Beauty Ingredients to Avoid

DEODORANT

ALUMINIUM in Deodorant: Aluminum is also a known neurotoxin. Aluminum has been associated with a variety of health issues, including: Breast Cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, Bone Disorders, Kidney Problems.

DRINKING WATER

Tap water may seem clean in appearance but keep in mind that tap water travels through pipelines before it reaches your home.

This water may pick up a lot of contaminants along the way: bacteria, chlorine, fluorine compounds, lead, mercury, pesticides and waste particles.

Consumption of contaminated water can lead to serious health issues and sometimes, the results can be lethal. In fact, statistics tell us that cholera, e. coli infection and other waterborne diseases claim about 1.5 million lives each year.

TOOTHPASTE

FLUORIDE in Toothpaste: Fluoride is more toxic than lead, but slightly less toxic than arsenic. This is why fluoride has long been used in rodenticides and pesticides to kill pests like rats and insects.

SHOWER WATER

CHLORINE in Shower Water: Our lungs absorb toxic fumes from the gaseous chlorine by-products that are released in a steamy shower. Chlorine in shower water can strip protein from our hair and skin causing dry, irritated eyes, itchy skin and dandruff.

Chlorine not only kills the bad bacteria in water, it also kills the good bacteria in our bodies and on our skin.

SHAMPOO

SODIUM in Shampoo: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). SLS, easily penetrates the skin and can circulate in the body for up to five days, leaving residues in the heart, liver, lungs, and brain. SLS can strip moisture and oils from the hair and skin, causing rashes, hair loss, and a condition similar to dandruff.

SUNSCREEN

CHEMICALS in Sunscreen: Chemical sunscreens use one or more chemicals including oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and octinoxate. The chemicals commonly used in sunscreen are endocrine disruptors, estrogenic and may interfere with thyroid and other hormone processes in the body.

Of the 1,400+ sunscreens tested by the EWG, only 5% met their safety standards and over 40% were listed as potentially contributing to skin cancer.

BODY WASH

MICROBEADS in Body Wash: Plastic microbeads absorb toxins from the water and are eaten by a wide variety of marine life and, ultimately, by humans as well.

TOILET PAPER

BLEACH in Toilet Paper: The chemicals typically used to turn wood pulp white, and soften toilet paper, put us in daily touch with such carcinogens as dioxin and formaldehyde, and the hormone-disrupter bisphenol A.
